Overview

With property values ranging from £47 million to over £60 million, Chelsea Barracks is a landmark residential development in Belgravia, London, renowned for its architectural excellence and the use of premium natural stone. The façades are clad in a blend of Portland stone and Cabeca Veada Portuguese limestone, providing a refined and timeless aesthetic. Across the landscaped grounds, a mix of Portuguese limestone, silver-grey granite, and Royal Forest Pennant Blue sandstone has been used for paving and featured areas such as Bourne Walk and Whistler Square. These high-quality materials were selected for their durability, texture, and visual contrast—enhancing the development’s prestige and integrating seamlessly with its classical architecture and heritage surroundings.

Our Contribution

As part of the external works at Chelsea Barracks, we were responsible for the specialist treatment of approximately 7,500m² of Royal Forest Pennant Blue sandstone paving. During the post-installation phase, we were called in to address a widespread issue of grouting bloom, which had significantly impacted the visual quality of the stone. Following a detailed site assessment, we carried out a full clean to lift the residue and restore the stone’s natural colour and texture. Once the paving was returned to its intended finish, we applied a breathable impregnating sealer to protect the surface from staining, moisture ingress, and early-stage weathering. To support the long-term upkeep of this high-specification area, we also delivered a series of scheduled maintenance cleans, ensuring the paving continues to meet the aesthetic standards of the development.
