Overview
The Emirates 'Sky Rail' cable car system, opened by then Mayor of London Boris Johnson, stands as the UK's first urban cable car system, connecting Greenwich Peninsula to the Royal Docks over the River Thames. This highly anticipated £44 million project was a significant addition to London's transport infrastructure, offering passengers panoramic views of the city. The hard landscaping package incorporated Kellen Breccia and Tagenta paving units supplied, in conjunction with Kobra granite paving.
Our Contribution
Upon completion of the Kellen paving installation, a comprehensive post-construction cleaning process was undertaken to eliminate all construction residues, delivering a pristine finish in line with the project's quality requirements. Following the clean, an invisible water-based polymer protective treatment was applied to the paving surfaces. This treatment preserved the natural aesthetic of the stone while offering an additional layer of protection ahead of anticipated high pedestrian footfall. The coating enhanced surface durability, improved resistance to weathering and abrasion, and ensured long-term visual integrity. Our timely and successful delivery of this phase supported the scheduled handover and facilitated the on-time public launch and operational readiness of the Skyrail.
